“One in five children in our country doesn’t know where their next meal will come from, and the risk of Childhood Hunger is even higher for Black and Latino children who are twice as likely to experience hunger. In DeSoto, we are aware of these hunger risks to our children, but we’ve been able to make a difference for them through strong area partnerships that have stood the test of time.
I am strongly committed to the Mayors Alliance’s efforts to end childhood hunger because it follows a multifaceted approach to ending Childhood Hunger that will help to ensure long-term success. It embraces successful local efforts that work for cities like DeSoto, promotes effective programs and strategies, and identifies ways to direct critical resources to the children who need it the most.”
