Thornton addresses hunger in the following ways:

1. Supporting nonprofits, including food serving organizations with $300,000 in Thornton Assistance Funds annually
2. Hosting seasonal farmers markets that provide produce vouchers for those experiencing financial hardship, helping to ensure access to healthy foods
3. Collecting nonperishable food items to support local food banks
4. Providing water credits to community gardens that donate at least 20% of their harvest to food banks serving Thornton
5. Convening leaders in the nonprofit food space to learn of challenges and collaborate on solutions
