Partnering with the local College of Idaho, the Caldwell Mayor’s Office recognized an opportunity to boost elementary school food pantries going into the holidays. Every year, the College of Idaho plays an annual rivalry basketball game against the neighboring city, titled the “Mayor’s Cup.” Capitalizing on the popularity of this game, we hosted a 2-week “Mayor’s Cup Food Drive” campaign across multiple community events.
In the end, there was a little over 1000lbs of food and $536 in cash donated. The food was sorted into 105 large care packages to be sent home with deserving students in local elementary schools. These efforts will undoubtedly support many families all winter long.
Their hope is to make this campaign a yearly tradition, and they are thankful to our community for coming together so strongly!
