“I am committed to ending child hunger because access to food is a human right. In this country, no child should wake up or go to bed without having a well-balanced meal. Children need proper nutrition to grow and flourish. In the City of North Miami, we tackle this issue head-on with our NoMi Food Pantry. Our food pantry is nationally recognized as the first and only government-run food pantry in the State of Florida. I created it back in 2016 to help our City’s income-qualified households facing food disparities due to financial hardships. This innovative initiative has grown steadily; and I am extremely proud that today, we are fighting hunger in 550 North Miami households. I am confident that it can only get better from here.”
