“Before I was mayor, I served on the board for the Northern Indiana Food Bank, and I still work with them through the soup kitchen at my church. I fully support efforts to eradicate child hunger. I understand the need, especially since COVID; and Michigan City has granted money to food banks to provide additional mobile food pantries in underserved communities where we have food deserts. It’s important that as a community, we support any initiative that will remove barriers to food and combat food insecurity in our neighborhoods. That’s a goal that I would like to accomplish in my administration, to figure out a way to do that. It’s going to take partnerships, and it’s going to take me as a leader to say it is a priority and to move forward with that.”
