“As a rural community with direct ties to the agricultural industry we don’t immediately come to mind when you think about food insecurity. The reality is that children in our region face challenges with nutrition and hunger. Our downtown restaurants contribute to the local food banks, we’ve coordinated a downtown growers and producers market to run from the spring through the fall, and throughout the downtown residents have set up and maintained mini food pantries. We participate in regional efforts in collaboration with the Union Snyder Hunger Coalition.”
