“Access to healthy, nutritious food is a fundamental right. In a country blessed with ample food sources, it is imperative that we, as Mayors, partner with and support the work of food banks, food pantries, faith groups, schools, and organizations that serve as food distribution sites for children and families in need.

With Neighborhood Health & Safety and Education & Youth Opportunities as two of my administration’s Pillars for Progress, we are committed to prioritizing food security across all City of St. Petersburg youth-serving programs and initiatives. Young people who can focus on the tasks in front of them—rather than their empty tummies—are better prepared to become contributing members of our community.

I’m honored to be a part of the Mayors Alliance to End Childhood Hunger and join the fight to protect the futures of our youth. #WeAreStPete”
