“Feeding people alone will not eliminate hunger. We can feed people today, but that doesn’t mean they won’t face hunger tomorrow. As a community, we need to understand and address the root causes of food insecurity. Newport News is setting the example of how a city should care for its community. We are focusing on affordable childcare and effective early childhood education through unique partnerships with our local community college and childhood centers.  This year alone, we provided $3.7 million for community organizations, many of which help to further this mission.”
