“In today’s world, no community remains untouched by the pervasive issue of food insecurity, a challenge that demands our collective attention and action. As mayors, we hold a unique position of influence and responsibility to address childhood hunger head-on. Reflecting on my own upbringing in a financially strapped household, where my mother selflessly sacrificed her own needs to ensure we had enough to eat, this cause resonates deeply with me on a personal level.

Recognizing the power of collaboration and the ability of mayors to convene diverse stakeholders, I am enthusiastic about the Mayor’s Alliance to End Childhood Hunger, which serves as an invaluable platform for sharing best practices and fostering inspiration among mayors to prioritize this critical issue at the local level.

In alignment with this commitment, I am proud to announce my partnership with Love Your Heart and the Department of Children and Families. Together, we are embarking on a mission to tackle the pressing challenges of child hunger in Deltona, Florida. Through our joint efforts, we aim to provide essential nourishment and support to several hundred children in need, empowering them with the resources they require to thrive and succeed.

By leveraging our collective strength and unwavering dedication, we can create a brighter, more equitable future for all children, ensuring that no child in our community goes hungry or lacks the opportunities they deserve. Together, let us forge a path towards a healthier, more prosperous tomorrow.”
